ABOUT US

The Mitchell family moved to Castleton in 1992, milking cows for 7 years before taking the decision in 1999 to stop dairying and concentrate on growing soft fruit. Since then the acreage has grown each year to the 101 acres of strawberries, 18 acres of raspberries and 26 acres of blueberries that is now grown. We supply our produce to the retailers, as well as supplying many local shops, and delicatessens.

Castleton Farm Shop was established in 2004, in the old filling station in the village of Fordoun. For the next 4 years, the shop was open seasonally from June until October with the range of produce being sold increasing each year.

Our policy has always been to source local produce and then, if this is not possible, British produce.

In 2008, a purpose built Farm Shop and Cafe was built, boasting spectacular views over the Howe of the Mearns.

However, our policy has remained the same, and the selection of locally sourced products available has grown. The addition of a gift shop and cafe will develop the overall shopping experience and we are looking forward to seeing this project come to fruition.
