WHAT WE GROW!
Strawberries
Our Strawberry land is made up on 145 acres of strawberries grown in tunnels planting into soil, and a small amount grown on tabletops. We grow different varieties of early, mid and late season varieties of strawberries so we can prolong the length of our season and to offer our customers high quality Scottish fruit for the whole of the season. Our main varieties we grow include:
- Pasadena — Is the sister of the variety Jubilee. The Californian bred variety is a large berry with sweet flavours. An early everbearer available from June onwards.
- Sonata — High quality, mid-season variety with uniform shaped fruits produced in abundance. Deliciously sweet and juicy and lasts well once picked without darkening in colour.
- Jubilee — Driscoll Jubilee is an exceptional strawberry with a wonderful naturally sweet flavour profile. It literally is the Queen of the Crop when it comes to summer strawberries. Nothing compares to it!
Raspberries
All of our raspberries are grown straight into the ground, and are covered by Polythene tunnels .
- Octavia — A late season variety which fruits before the first of the autumn croppers, from mid July through to early August, Octavia produces an abundance of large fruits, all with an excellently sweet flavour.
- Tulameen — This variety is available for the majority of the season, and is as tasty at the start as it is at the end of the season. Tulameen's exquisite flavour and juicy flesh has made it the supermarkets favourite raspberry.
- Cardinal — Driscoll Cardinal` raspberry is a primocane crop which begins in mid-July and continues until mid-October. This variety produces a lovely, big, sweet autumn berry.
Blueberries
Fact: Blueberries contain one of the highest antioxidant content, dietary fiber and other nutrients, blueberry is known to have great health benefits. Variety selection is vital as we want to ensure we can produce high yields and at the same time deliver high quality delicious blueberries. The main vatieties which we grow are:-
- Darrow — Darrow is a late season variety with very large, firm light blue berries. The flavour is excellent but suits people who prefer a slightly tart blueberry.
- Chandler — Chandler is best known as the variety which produces the largest blueberries in the world. It is a mid to late season blueberry producing very large berries from early August to mid September.
