ACCOMODATION
Accommodation is available and if you decide to stay on the farm you will either live in a mobile home or a cabin, which you will share with others. You are expected to cook and prepare all your own meals. Bus trips for those who are on the farm will be arranged to local supermarkets.
Caravans contain a cooker, fridge cooking utensils and cutlery; some caravans have showers and toilets. There are toilet and shower blocks for the ones that don’t have. You will be expected to keep your accommodation clean and tidy.
Charges for Accommodation. If you choose to live on the farm you will be expected to pay a daily fee of £4.51. You and the others living with you will also be expected to pay for gas which you can buy at the farm. At present Gas is £39.00 a bottle. There is a laundry charge of £2.00 if you wish to use these facilities.
What you need to bring
You must bring a sleeping bag, rubber boots and warm waterproof clothing. We do sell rubber boots and waterproof clothing on site as well. Please ensure that your sleeping bag is a warm one as temperatures in the United Kingdom can be considerably lower than most European countries.
It is essential to bring at least £100 in sterling or equivalent currency with you. This is enough for travelling expenses and, in the event of the harvest beginning later than anticipated, it will be sufficient to cover your costs until the first pay day.
Facilities
We are situated on the picturesque North East of Scotland coast, with spectacular beaches, lovely walks and the holiday town on Stonehaven all within easy reach so on days off there is plenty to do and see. Facilities on the farm include internet access, table tennis, basketball, and bikes. Throughout the season we have discos organised for the students who are here, as well as holding an annual bbq. Weekly shopping trips to the nearest supermarket are provided, as well as trips to historical sites such as Edinburgh, Glasgow and Balmoral.
